DIY Ayurveda Recipes For Healthy Natural Hair
I first came across Ayurveda Hair Care while doing my research on natural ways to grow my hair strong, healthy and long. It is a holistic system, native to India, that incorporates the use of natural herbs to strengthen, thicken and grow long lustrous locks.
Now, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed when reading about this system as the list of herbs is almost endless, each one boasting great benefits for your hair. But not to worry! That’s why I’m here!
In this post I’m going to share 3 of my favorite Ayurveda herbs and how I incorporate them in my regimen.
1. Henna- this has got to be one of the most known Ayurveda herbs and rightfully so. It works by coating your hair shaft, hence thickening and strengthening your hair strands. I’ve been using this herb ever since I went natural and here's my actual recipe.
2. Neem Powder- now when we talk about having long healthy hair, we don’t stress enough the importance of having a healthy scalp too. Neem powder contains great antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties making it ideal for controlling dandruff and promoting overall scalp health. I usually mix about 3 teaspoons of the powder with water into a paste and apply it to my roots. I let it sit in for about 30 minutes and then I rinse it out. This has worked to control my dandruff and in turn helped reduce my hair shedding a great deal!
3.Amla Powder- also known as Indian Gooseberry, has great hair conditioning properties, whilst also strengthening, nourishing and keeping grey hairs at bay. I mix about 3 tablespoons of the powder into my moisturizing deep conditioner and apply it to my hair for about 30 minutes, then I rinse it out. Not only do you benefit from the goodness of your deep conditioner but your hair strands get added strength and luster too.
Let me know if you've used any of these herbs on your hair. I'm sending you lots of love and sunshine.
