Yellow to me is a frame of mind.
Yellow is laughter, light and energy. It's daffodils, sunshine and sunflowers.
Amazing. Just plain amazing. Craving Yellow has been live for exactly 6 months! I'm elated that this journey has brought me right here: I'm sat all cozy on the couch with my electric blanket set to 50 degrees celsius. We're smack in the middle of winter but the sun is peeping through the trees, whispering sweet nothings to my skin. This is what I call basking-in-the-house. Loooll!! Am I happy? I truly am. I have lots to be thankful for. The month of June was probably one of the most significant months in my life!
I found laughter.
Mmas. Jen. Neo. Nicole. Mmas. Doris. Felicia. Where on earth would I be without these babes?! They know me inside-out. The laughs and giggles that we have, only heaven knows. Having them in my life has been honey-on-toast - the sweetest, simplest treasure on earth. I cherish them loads. We shared laughs while shopping for graduation week - all the hullabaloo of choosing outfits for senior week, getting ready for all the 100001 dinners and parties we had to attend and then of course slaying the game (ie - #shuttingitdown) with our good looks..hahaha! These girls are lyfe! Bless them!
I found light.
...in letting go. Heaven knows change is not easy. I miss Americ-ugh (with all its shenanigans). It will always be home. Living and studying in America was one of the most enriching experiences in my life. I grew into myself. Yah know, into my very own identity as a young woman. I polished my value system. I greeew into myself. America shall always be a part of my being.
Moments of transition can be difficult, truth be told. Finding oneself again, be it a new rhythm or pace, or even fitting into a new identity as girlfriend or sister is not always easy. I'm learning to consciously count my blessings, to breathe in and out, and to be patient with the process.
I found energy.
...To graduate with Honors, three distinct awards and three strikes on the Dean's list. ....To close shop in the US, pack all my belongings and cross the Pacific and set up a new life in a whole new city/country/continent...To start to make new friends. ....To begin the process of settling into my Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program. ....To adapt to it all. I don't know how it has all happened, to be honest. It has taken all of my physical and emotional might.
That said, I am deeply deeply grateful that life has brought me to this very moment. I share this in the hope that if you are going through a really tough transition, that you too may find the energy to make it through. And better still that you too will take time to sit down, look back at what you just went through and pat yourself on the back. You my dear, are a winner. Remember that.
I found you: your light, laughter and energy!

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home and a stranger into a friend."
