Sultry Valentines Styles : The Sassy Lass!!

Love is...

...friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.

Happy Hump Day! We made it to mid-week! Happy February too. February is a great month. Post Christmas holiday hang-overs (read brokeness) are starting to lift, and you don't have to suffer for too long this month either because February is graciously three days shorter! Wohoo! For others yet, February is the month of love. We are bombarded with ads EVERYWHERE that say 'tis the season to be in love! I like to think about love broadly - as an action, an emotion, a moment, a forever, a person, a memory of a person, me, you.. love is many (insert noun/adjective/verb/metaphor)...

So in the spirit of love... this is the first in a series of posts on hairstyles you can try out this LOVEly season. (Okay that was maaaadd lame! Hahaah!)

I suggest we get to it already! Shall we?

Sawa (Okay).

This style is a simple roll and tuck pompadour.

It would be perfect for...umh.. any type of event really. I believe in being a diva/self-respecting fashionista always! Night or day! Hah! Also, this style is great if you have 4 inches of hair or more. You might need to roll with a firmer hand and tuck with a few more pins, but with a little effort, you could be rocking your own variation of a pompadour.

Here's how:

1. Start with a fresh twist-out or braid out. [Notice that I hardly (actually almost never) use a comb on my hair. Growth retention secret no. 1. ] Section off the crown area. You can make your part as defined as you need. I detest combs, so I roughly sectioned off my hair with my fingers and achieved a less-defined side part.

2. Now it's roll and tuck time! Very simple. Use bobby pins to secure the tucks. If you have shorter hair, you might need to use more bobby pins. If you hair is longer, you'll find that your hair catches on to itself. I literally used 4 bobby pins! Oh the joys of 4 C hair!

3. Did I say roll and tuck? Tuck, tuck and tuck away! :-)

That face you make when you are determined to get that bobby pin to work with you!!

And ta-da! That took less than 5 minutes! Yaayy for ease! Especially if you might consider yourself a lazy natural!

Have a LOVE-filled day!
