Happy Monday (oxymoron or not?) !!

My big chop happened on February 2, 2012 after about 8 months of transitioning. I had about 3 inches of natural hair.

I had just done my usual weekly treatment and I looked at my flimsy permed ends, emaciated and barely holding their weight against my sturdy, lush coils and kinks and decided that enough was enough!  I picked up a pair of tweezerman hair shears and snipped snipped snipped.

I smiled from ear to ear when I saw my hair coil just as it was meant to be....

This is an excerpt from my journal that day:

"I realised two things - my hair: it is interesting. It's puffy and it's coily but it still allows air right through!! I LOVE IT!! It looks beautiful, just as God made it - all curly and coily....! Do NOT know why I waited this long!! Super duper excited to be me - to fit into my own brown skin. To remember that it is okay,  it is beautiful, it is strong. It is me."

As I mentioned in this post here, 4 C hair is the exact opposite of relaxed hair. When I finally re-committed to natural hair, I was literally relieved. It felt sooo good to have my kinks free to coil and twirl! My hair was dancing...

That was the only relaxed hair I had left on my head! The breakage was REALER than real!

How did your big chop go? How did it FEEL?

If you haven't yet taken the plunge, I assure you, it is the BEST decision you can make for your SOUL!

Love and Sunshine!!
